Weekly Devotion - Spirit People

Spirit People

By Patra Mueller

On Sunday we began a new sermon series on Paul’s first letter to the Christians living in the Greek city of Corinth. We were reminded that we are “Spirit People” because the Spirit of God lives in us. As a result, our perspective and motivation are different from those who live according to worldly wisdom.

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:14

At times we may feel like “strangers” in this world because we are. Paul writes in Romans 8:5-6 that those controlled by the sinful nature have their minds set on what the nature desires, but those controlled by the Spirit have LIFE and PEACE.  Did you hear that? LIFE and PEACE are gifts to each of us as we remember our identity as Spirit People.

As part of our sermon series on First Corinthians, you are invited to join a class on Sunday or Thursday mornings which will follow a Daily Devotional Plan. You can also participate individually or with others in your household. To sign up for the daily devotional you need to have an account with Right Now Media.
