Weekly Devotion - Running the Race Focused on Jesus!
Ash Wednesday
Running the Race focused on Jesus
By Patra Mueller, Family Life Minister
Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3
There is a lot going on in our world as we continue to hear reports of war and deep suffering in Ukraine. As we near the finish line of a two year pandemic, we are worn out. In the midst of it all, we don’t need to lose heart. We can look to Jesus and His example for strength and encouragement. He is cheering us on in this race of life. We have the opportunity to be refreshed through two special worship opportunities this week to receive extra encouragement and strength for the race of life.
Traditional Ash Wednesday Service Tonight, March 2, 7:00pm Today we begin the season of Lent when we reflect on Jesus’ selfless example of sacrificial love. We are grateful that we can meet in person this year to receive the imposition of ashes and the Lord’s Supper to be encouraged and reminded of the strength we have in Jesus.
A Night of Worship and Prayer Sunday, March 6, 6:30pm Mark your calendar for our second Night of Worship and Prayer - a time of extended worship in song and times of facilitated personal and small group prayer for God’s work among the people of Hope, our community, and the world.
