News & Notes: Week of March 15, 2020

THIRD SUNDAY IN LENT
March 15, 2020
The Story: Saul - Standing Tall, Falling Hard
This week's message looks at a significant transition in Israel's history - from the era of the Judges to the era of the Kings. Hannah's miracle son Samuel becomes a prophet whom God reluctantly asks to anoint a king for Israel, like the neighboring nations have. Saul becomes that first Israelite king: things go well at first, but derail once his ego gets too big and he disobeys God.

MEXICO MISSION TRIP FUNDRAISER: 144 ENVELOPES The reason I (Jonathan) like this fundraiser is that everyone can be involved! The first time we did this at Hope, a child came up to me with $5 and wanted to help with the big kids. I loved it! This is what this fundraiser is all about. In the Commons are 144 envelopes labelled $1-$144 that you can pick up then donate online or write a check and place the sealed envelope in the offering basket. There are directions on the card. Thank you for helping our high school kids get to Mexico and supporting the building of a home for a family in need.

LWML CONVENTION (Lutheran Women in Ministry) September 25 - 27 at Great Wolf Lodge. If you are interested in being a delegate or Young Woman representative, please contact the church office.

MIGHTY MITE MOMENT Mobile Medical Mercy Mission Bus for Guatemala: $100,000 . This is one of 21 Mission Grants supported by Lutheran Women's Mission League for 2019-2021. In Guatemala while physicians tend to physical needs, ministers and lay leaders will go into villages and set up Bible classes, Vacation Bible Schools and worship services. In February Hope children gave $19.50 in "mites", and Hope adults gave $89.50 in "Mites". Each Mite helps those who need help - our neighbors all over the world, sharing God's Love and His Promises. Thank You!

TECH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR WORSHIP ARTS AT HOPE
Hope is seeking volunteers at the sound board and computers to help enhance our 10:30 worship service. Please email Amy at if interested.
· The computer position involves operating the lyrics and images on Mac computers and is a once-a-month commitment.
· The sound board position involves running the sound board to balance the sound for speaking mics and musical instruments and is a once or twice monthly commitment. This includes participating in weekly Thursday night band rehearsals and Sunday morning rehearsals and worship. No prior sound board experience is necessary, but it is helpful if you have a musical ear.

EVE GARDENING GROUP With Spring right around the corner, it's time to put out the call for volunteers. Three more helpers to join our small group would insure that the yards would receive the best care possible. In addition to being surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants in God’s Garden, this task has many benefits including: good exercise, fresh air, meeting the neighbors, and much more!
