Who is Jesus? Be Still and Know

“Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:5

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31

Who is Jesus? What is Lent really about? These are questions we’ve been asking in our current Lent series at Hope. You may think you already know the answers, and maybe you do. But Hebrews 4:12 teaches us that God’s Word isn’t stale or static; it is “living and active.” God wants to speak to us in every circumstance, and if we can be still enough to listen, we can learn to hear his voice. I don’t know about you, but if I have access through Jesus to the Creator of the Cosmos who loves me so much that he gave his one and only Son for me, I would like to hear what he has to say to me each and every day!

This Wednesday night we will have an opportunity to worship the Lord with each other and hear from his Word about being still. We will also have an opportunity during the service to spend time in silence. We will visit prayer stations that help us reflect on different aspects of Jesus’ character. We will prayerfully discover what we need to receive from him this week, or even throughout the Lenten season, and take something home with us as a reminder of who Jesus is for us. 

Our stations will be focused on Jesus’ glory, healing, forgiveness, rescuing, and sacrifice.

Please join us in praying Ephesians 3:16-21 for yourselves, for Hope, and for the worldwide Body of Christ as we worship this Lenten season:

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
