HOPE 365 Toolbox - Ash Wednesday - Prayer Station

Ash Wednesday - Prayer Station

Posted on

The Season of Lent begins today with the remembrance of Ash Wednesday worship at 7:00 pm and our Soup Supper will be served from 6:00-7:00 pm. Each week we will also have a Prayer Station for you to experience

Tonight’s prayer station will provide the opportunity to reflect on the burdens in our lives and the sins that separate us from God. We will reflect on the fact that from dust we came and to dust we will return and we were born with the stain of sin and need God’s forgiveness. Tonight, we will be reminded that Christ was nailed on the cross for us, for the forgiveness of our sins, so that we too would have victory over sin, death, and the devil. Although we were not there that day, it IS our sin that nailed Him to the cross. As we reflect on that together, maybe there is a word that comes to mind that represents the guilt or shame that you just can’t seem to shake.

Before you enter the sanctuary you will have the chance to write down a word or draw a picture that represents that guilt and lay it down at the foot of the cross. This will be an invitation for you to let it go and leave it in God’s hands. And if you’ve ever wondered if you are worthy…you are. Jesus died for you. Jesus died for that thing that you’ve been holding on to. Yes, even that.

Paul describes it so well in Romans 5:8-10

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.
