The Bible is the most life-changing book in history, but it is frequently misunderstood when people don’t read it well. This Sunday’s message kicks off a new message and small group series called “How (Not) to Read the Bible,” based on a book by the same name by Dan Kimball. Some parts of the Bible can come across as confusing or even deeply troubling, but often this is because people are not reading it well — especially when reading a verse or even a section of verses out of context or without paying attention to whom it was first written. This week’s message will explore the important idea of “never reading a Bible verse” — on its own, out of context, that is. We will best understand any part of the Bible when we read in relation to the rest of the biblical story.
BIG IDEA QUESTION: What is one of your favorite quotes, famous sayings, or Bible verses? Do you know who said it and when, where, and/or why?
