Power-hungry rulers don’t like those who challenge their authority, and the same is true for the devil, portrayed by the image of the dragon in the book of Revelation. Whenever the followers of the slain lamb on the throne demonstrate love, worship, and loyalty to Jesus, it’s a direct act of war against the dragon - and the dragon will do anything to damage and destroy the followers of Jesus. If that was the end of the story, things would look hopeless - the good news is that God’s Spirit empowers us to run the race of faith with perseverance, even when the cost of doing so is high - until Jesus returns and all things are made new.
