On Sunday, October 31, during the 10:30 AM service, we will be celebrating the Third/Fourth Grade Bible Blessing as a way to remember the importance of God's Word by passing it onto the next generation. We chose October 31 because it is the anniversary of the Reformation when Martin Luther made a public statement upholding God's Word by posting his 95 Thesis on the Wittenburg door. In this special ceremony you will have the opportunity to give your child his/her own bible along with a special blessing from you.

CLICK HERE to register your child.

Here's how it will work:

1. Talk to your child and take some time to to pick out a bible together for your child. You can look online at Christian book distributors (christianbook.com) or on Amazon. If your child is attending Hope School, I highly recommend that you use the Adventure Bible that you purchased for Faith Class in third grade.

2. Spend some time thinking about why God's Word is important to you. Then, write a note in the front of the Bible to your child explaining the importance of God's Word and blessing them with this special gift. You could also include a Scripture verse such as Psalm 119:105, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." or one of your personal favorite Bible verses.

3. Attend the 10:30 service on October 31. During a set time in the service, you and your child will be asked to stand. I will lead you through a brief ceremony where I will ask you and your children some questions followed by a prayer. Then, all the parents will read their personal blessings privately to their children at the same time while background music is played and then parents will give their children their Bibles. Pastor Peter will close with a final blessing.
