When the first disciples of Jesus started following Him, they were impressed, but they didn’t fully grasp the magnitude of who Jesus is. Too often, the same is true for Christians today - we’re moved that He died for us and thankful for His love, but only vaguely aware of the fullness of who He is. The part of Jesus’ identity that they missed and we miss as well is that Jesus was not just an altruistic nice guy, but the all-powerful King of the universe, God in the flesh, and the One whose name even the waves and wind know and listen to. We go through storms in our lives just as those first disciples did - grasping the magnitude of who Jesus is can make all the difference in whether we live in constant angst and despair or hope and peace.
