When Jesus prayed, His prayers often included prayers of thanks to His Father. Jesus gives thanks especially at meals - the feeding of the 5000, the Last Supper, and at Easter dinner in Emmaus, among other occasions. In today’s world, it’s easy for us to consume our food and other resources without even giving a thought as to where they came from or what a blessing they are - the prayers of Jesus remind us that everything we have is a gift from God and that a primary way to pray is to give thanks to God regularly for those gifts.
