Who is God? He's a lot of things and some of them don't seem to go together at first. On the one hand, God sends His Spirit to convict us of our sin and mistakes - this can be painful and humbling. On the other hand, God also sends His Spirit to comfort us with the good news of His love, forgiveness, and new life. Finally, God also sends His Spirit to counsel or guide us through this life as we walk in the newness of life that He provides and helps us to grow more and more into. All of this points to the idea that God is personal and wants personal relationship with each of us - a relationship that is real and honest, but also saturated in love and hope. This is great news about who the biblical God is!
