We are constantly bombarded with the attention-grabbing noise of our culture, our schedules, and our technology - it often seems nearly impossible to find a moment of quiet. For those who want to know God well, that’s a problem — since the beginning of the Church, the followers of Jesus have recognized the essential value of what Jesus modeled himself — no spiritual practice is more foundational that simply seeking out and creating moments of silence and solitude. It is nearly impossible to hear God in His Word or pray to Him with all your heart if your attention is distracted every three seconds by all that surrounds us in the modern world.
