Some have cautioned that in our pursuit of deep connection with God that it’s  very important to “not become so heavenly minded that we are of no earthly good.” The point of that caution is to say that while spiritual practices do have have immense value in helping us grow in our relationship with God, one of the  primary results of close relationship with God is that we increasingly become like him in his generosity towards others. To that end, generous giving of our time and money to serve the needs of others can become one of the most meaningful of all spiritual practices as God uses us to make a difference in our world.
