8:30 AM Traditional Service
Jesus tells us, “everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice…” In our western world, we are very good at hearing and listening, but could work on the practice. John Mark Comer, took a survey of his church and asked, “How frequently do you fast?” He found out that: 45% answered: Never; 30% Rarely; 12% A few times a year; 3% Once a month; 2% Once a week. While fasting isn’t a command, Jesus does tells us, in our Gospel reading, “When you fast,” this is something God invites us to practice. Join us this Sunday as we dig deeper into the the practical ways of how to fast, how to get started and the benefits it can have on our faith and life.
CAVEAT: This is not about diets, or losing weight. We are focusing on the spiritual aspects of fasting. For those of you who have food addictions or eating disorders, this is something you should consider with a doctor. Those are serious things and you may need professional help. This is not about that, if you struggle with food in any way, please reach out and know that we are here to help.
BIG IDEA QUESTION: What have been some of your practices during Lent? Do you give up things? Why or why not?
