The life of faith in Jesus and radiating his love into this world is opposed by the spiritual forces of darkness. It’s often not easy and quite difficult, similar to being on a battlefield, simultaneously defending territory you control and offensively going after territory the enemy controls. In the last major section of Ephesians, Paul urges those 1st century believers and us to “stand firm” so that we can “stand our ground against the devil’s schemes.” The key is putting on what Paul calls the “full armor of God” - most of it defensive, and part of it offensive. Despite the opposition we face in our life of faith, Paul provides great encouragement that those who are “in Christ” and filled with the Spirit have been equipped for the battle and are empowered by God’s presence.
BIG IDEA QUESTION: What is one place in your life or this world where you see a struggle between good and evil?
