Have you ever faced a seemingly impossible situation? Most of us have. When the angel Gabriel told a young Jewish woman in first century Israel that she was going to be the mother of the savior of the world, she could have said "no way!" Instead, she responded with a heart of joy that she had been entrusted with such a special and important role in the drama of salvation history. Mary trusted that even though she didn't know how this would all work, that God would do the impossible and provide a savior for the world through her. Mary's trust in God was built on a foundation of looking back on God's repeated faithfulness to her people over time - and that can be a source of great encouragement for us as well!
