When it comes to examples of governmental power it is seldom, if ever, a clear picture of good over evil. As people of faith we acknowledge that our leaders exhibit the traits we find in ourselves, that strange mixture of saint and sinner. On this anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we consider the example of David, who though quite fallible, demonstrated a nobility worth noting.
