Weekly Devotion - SHARE Hope

Posted on

We SHARE hope with others within the Hope ministry, in our local Seattle community, and around the world by meeting the spiritual and physical needs of others through SERVICE. Serving others at Hope is a foundational part of who we are. We want to share the HOPE of Jesus with others by providing for their physical needs. Two upcoming opportunities we have to SHARE HOPE are:

WIN WELCOME TABLE MEAL Our next meal to be served at the Welcome Table is Saturday, October 1st. Extra hands are needed to serve that day (11 AM-1:30 PM). Sign up HERE or contact the church office. Currently there is a need for any men’s clothing, gently used and clean. If you are unable to serve that day, other opportunities are available on December 3rd & January 7th. Keep reading to learn more about the wonderful work this faithful group is doing.

SERVE DINNER AT HOPE PLACE Wednesday, October 12 and Wednesday, November 9. Mark your calendars and sign up HERE. Prayerfully consider this special opportunity. Questions talk to  . To find out more about Hope Place CLICK HERE.

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.  Proverbs 19:17

Every Saturday, Westside Interfaith Network, with the support of other area churches, provides a meal and other necessities to people in our community. Each month, Hope Church shares the responsibility of supporting the Welcome Table in White Center. Without volunteers, this ministry could not continue to thrive. Our volunteers assist with food distribution, cooking & serving food, and organizing donations.

Last month, the meal consisted of 2 catering pans of Macaroni and Cheese; mixed vegetables; hot dogs (60); 72 hoagie sandwiches, 1/2 turkey and cheese and the other half ham and salami; 52 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches; a banana, orange, watermelon slice, and baggie of grapes. Someone also brought snack baggies with cherry tomatoes. Hope also provided a sack for their sandwiches and fruit which included a bag of chips, crackers, fruit snacks, pepperoni, and a bag of cookies.

Over the years, Hope has collected school supplies and we were able to send boxes of supplies, which were gone instantly. Any remaining supplies were delivered directly to the schools for handouts as needed. Non-perishable food items from our food pantry were also provided.

Our next meal is scheduled for October 1st. Big needs are gently used Men's Clothing, boots, and shoes; blankets; rain gear; toilet paper; laundry detergent pods; dryer sheets; feminine hygiene supplies, shelf stable milk, and any non-expired canned goods (preferably with pull tab tops).  Small hygiene items are also needed. For a full list of suggested items, click HERE.

A HUGE thank you to our faithful volunteers: Greta T., Loren and Rachel S., Mat H., Sue B., Manuel A., Dianne K., Joyce G., Joy S., Pam J..  We can always use extra hands to serve, and this is a great service project for middle and high schoolers.
