It is with heartfelt joy and gratitude that we welcome Pastor Peter Mueller as our pastor of Hope Lutheran Church and School. Pastor Mueller accepted our call in May, 2011, culminating an extensive eight-month call process expressly guided by the Holy Spirit and accompanied by the fervent prayers of our congregation. We believe that God has shown great favor on our congregation by blessing us with a new pastor with vast talents and unique gifts who shares our vision for the future of Hope congregation in West Seattle. Under his leadership and with God’s guidance and blessings, we look forward to discovering the path on which God would take us in the coming years.
Peter Mueller was born in Calgary, Alberta and grew up in spectacularly beautiful Vancouver, BC. He received his B.A. in Youth and Family Ministry from Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle in 1994, and went on to earn his Master of Divinity degree from Regent College, Vancouver in 2002. He became certified for the pastoral ministry of the LCMS in June 2004. He has served congregations in BC, Washington, and California since 1992 in pastoral ministry including youth and family ministry and contemporary worship. Most recently he served as Pastor of Discipleship and Outreach at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Orange, California. He also taught evangelism and Old Testament at Concordia University, Irvine and has been regularly involved in mission work in Mexico and inner-city Los Angeles. Peter and his wife, Patra, are members of the Pastoral Leadership Institute of the LCMS (an advanced training institute for leadership excellence).
Peter is married to Patra nee Pfotenhauer, a gifted church leader in her own right; she has served as a Director of Christian Education (DCE) for more than 20 years-- ten years in Arizona and Colorado and eleven years as assistant professor of Christian Education and Director and Assistant Director of the DCE training program of Concordia University, Irvine. Peter and Patra have two children; John (age 6) and Hannah (age 4). The Mueller’s goal in life is that as many people as possible would come to know the peace and joy of knowing Jesus as their Lord, Savior and Friend. They love the beach and Disneyland, as well as hiking, camping, skiing and other outdoor pursuits.
